No More Selective 'Peace & Love'
Diary of a Seeker: Entry #3.
New Age Spiritualists will have you believe that those problems that exist over there? They’re not for you.
New Age Spiritualists will have you believe that war and poverty and genocide are self-made. And that they’re not for you.
New Age Spiritualists will have you believe that protecting your own energy comes before, and above and beyond, the suffering of humanity. And the suffering of humanity? Nah, it’s not for you.
I get it. It’s easy to turn a blind eye to the suffering of others. Especially when you’re on a path of your own self-development and spiritual growth. You’re told that what you focus on grows; you’re told to protect your energy and not allow yourself to be sucked into the negativity in this world.
I’ve been there. I’ve done that. I’ve seen it all. Awoken to it all. Protested and marched and petitioned. But then New Age sucked me in too, so I turned a blind eye again. Put my rose-tinted glasses back on, turned my back and walked the other way.
But what I now know, and what we all need to understand if we are to progress as a human race, is that there will come a point when you can no longer turn the other way or bury your head in the sand or drown it all it out with the voices in your head.
You have to see the suffering. You have to open your eyes and your heart to the reality of this world. You have to understand your privilege and know that you have fellow brothers and sisters in humanity who are experiencing a live-streamed living hell on earth. In Palestine.
If you claim to be all about peace and love like so many New Age Spiritualists do, then please know without the freedom of the Palestinians and the awareness of their plight from all who are not Palestinians by name, that we are not free. We can never be truly free if we are not willing to allow ourselves to see and accept the entirety of this human experience, including the pain, destruction and sheer evil that exists among us.
The Palestinian genocide came to wake the world up. To jolt it out of its deep, harmful slumber. And now that so many are, I know that we feel helpless and are in sheer desperation of knowing what we can actually do to help.
The heartbreaking reality, and as we’ve seen over the past many months, is… we really can’t do much outside of us.
However, as Israel (supported and funded by the US and UK) continues with its ethnic cleansing and genocide of Palestine, what we can do is bear witness to all that is unfolding.
We can open our eyes and finally see, truly see, the power and darkness of the social order.
We can awaken to how it makes us less and less human in every facet of our lives.
We can allow ourselves to see the bias, the hypocrisy, the corruption that exists all around us and how we are conditioned to believe that all that we experience in the social order from the moment we are born is how we are supposed to live.
We were never meant to be machines. We were never meant to be ego-driven. We were never meant to live life disconnected from ourselves and our pure, infinite essence. We were never meant to live a life of separation, disconnection, and judgement of our fellow human brothers and sisters.
We were never meant to see anyone else as less human than ourselves.
If this time in history is doing anything, it is finally waking more and more people up to this truth.
So please continue to see. Please continue to bear witness. Please continue to share, use your voice, your platform, your talents and your gifts to speak out — in the hope that those who are still blind can begin to see, too.
And please, my beautiful brothers and sisters, please continue to pray. We may not feel like we have much power, but we can call upon the One who has all the power.
In His name, we pray for truth to prevail.
We pray for the awakening of hearts and global consciousness.
We pray for light to always overcome darkness.
And we pray for a world in which Palestine is free.
We pray for a world in which humanity, each and every one of us, is truly free.
(I wrote this back in October 2023 and edited it slightly to upload now in June 2024. In all that time, tens and tens of thousands of Palestinians have been murdered on their own land, with no end in sight. The same in Congo, Sudan and many other places around the world. All in the name of profit and personal interest. More to come on this soon. Their suffering is our suffering. We are not free until we are all free. Let us remember.)
