You know I was thinking that exact same thing as I wrote that final little P.S. 😂 Thank you for the confirmation, my love! And thank you for always reading and for seeing and hearing me. You are truly wonderful. 💛
Sabah, are you fricking kidding me?! Not your best work??? Your words were ecstatically dancing off the screen and into my heart, conveying the thrill and awe of your experience, while making me ponder with exquisite relief who I wanted to be if I could be anyone at all - perhaps the most important question every one needs to ask themselves. My favorite line was when you described the ecstatic dancers as being “lost yet so completely found in the present moment”. How beautiful! I’m so happy you were able to have this experience. I hope we can do something like this together some day. I hope we can do ANYTHING together some day!
Nida, I literally cannot wait for the day when we can meet in person! We should take a trip together one day! I've always wanted to experience Pakistan as a tourist, so you never know 😉 Also, if you want to take a detour to London on your way back to PK, feel free 😁
Thank you as always for your kind, encouraging words, I truly appreciate you so much. It was honestly such an incredible experience and I just know you would love something like this too. I'd absolutely love it if they threw some Bollywood and Bhangra in there too haha, it would take it to the next level for me! I've also been contemplating the areas in my own life where I'm not living like nobody is watching, too - it's funny how we often write the things we most need to hear. Alhamdulillah. Sending love. xxx
Next year, I will plan better, inshaAllah, and add London to my itinerary. Maybe one day you can host your own version of a retreat with Bhangra etc too. I’d be there in an instant!
Sabah, you write so beautifully and from the heart space. And I love your question “ Truly, how would you live if nobody was watching?” So simple but incredibly profound. You’re asking us the essential question of how we as a species can shed the layers of conditioning and programming that we carry around which make us judge and criticize ourselves, cause us to worry about what others think of us and become more of our authentic selves (which are so playful and creative 🎨 🎶)?
And quicker shifts and transformation can happen when we have opportunities to connect in a community space with likeminded others and begin to allow ourselves to feel more. This is more of a physical, visceral experience than coming from the mind. Sabah, your real, embodied experience of feeling ‘freedom’ shines through in your writing. Thank you for putting it into words (so coherent for 2am too).
Josh’s ecstatic dance combined with ceremonial cacao combined with a beautiful community of highly sensitive people who are aligned with truth, wisdom and love, are all such wonderful heart opening medicines. Was so grateful to share this experience together ❤️
I am so grateful to have shared this experience with you and everyone else too, Genevieve. What a perfect combination of human beings! You curated and created this retreat so beautifully, I'm still in awe.
I think, with the society in which we live, unshedding all of that is one of the most difficult journeys to undertake. How do we do that when we are bombarded from every angle by that which disconnects us from a place of Being, and into a place of constant doing and having? For me, a big part of the answer to this lies in being in it, but not being of it. Being in society, but not being of it. Of being in this world, but not being of it.
Thank you for reading and and for your beautiful, kind words. You are such a wonderful human! xx
How would you have written if no one read it? Just like you did now - from the heart ✨ so no need to apologise for your writing not being your ‘best’
And the message was absolutely beautiful ❤️
